Museum Heritage Review ("we", "our", "the publication") is an independent editorial publication operated from Downtown Cairo. This policy describes what personal data we collect from visitors to museum-heritage.biz, how we use it, and what your rights are.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Museum Heritage Review, 12 Champollion Street, Downtown Cairo, 11511, Egypt. For privacy questions you may contact us at [email protected].

What data we collect

We collect personal data in three situations:

  1. When you visit the site. Our server receives standard technical information required to deliver the page: your IP address, the user agent of your browser, the URL you requested, and the date and time of the request. This information is used to deliver the site, to protect against abuse, and in aggregate to understand which articles readers find useful.
  2. When you use our contact form. If you write to us through the contact form on our site, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you provide. We use that information solely to respond to your enquiry.
  3. When you subscribe to our email digest. If you subscribe to the monthly email digest, we collect your email address. We use it only to send the digest and we do not share the subscriber list with any third party. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the foot of every digest.

Cookies and analytics

We use only essential cookies required for site functionality, plus anonymous analytics to understand which articles are being read. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or any third-party marketing tag. For a full list of cookies and their purposes see our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep your data

Server logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted. Contact-form correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards — typically no longer than 24 months. Email-digest subscribers are retained for as long as they remain subscribed.

Legal basis for processing

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis (for example, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation for readers in the European Economic Area), the bases we rely on are: (a) legitimate interest in delivering the site and preventing abuse, for technical server logs; (b) consent, for the email digest and for non-essential cookies; and (c) performance of a request, for contact-form correspondence.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request its correction if inaccurate, and to request its deletion. You may also object to processing and, where processing is based on consent, withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights please write to [email protected]. If you believe we have mishandled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country of residence.

International transfers

Our hosting infrastructure is located outside Egypt. This means that technical data about your visit may be transferred to, and stored in, other jurisdictions. We use providers that implement appropriate safeguards and, where required by applicable law, standard contractual clauses.

Children

Our content is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page records the most recent revision. If a change is material we will note it in the next issue of the email digest.
